When the Farmers Market Packs Up, Downtown Alpharetta's New Storefronts Keep Saturday Morning Going

The Alpharetta Farmers Market opens on the Town Green at 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays and closes at 12:30 p.m. The Alpharetta Business Association runs it, and its 2026 calendar ends on Nov. 14. For most of the year, that market is the main reason to be downtown before noon on a weekend.

This year the end of the market comes about three months after a cluster of downtown openings. A French bakery and café opened inside The Hamilton, a Southern European specialty market opened at Alpharetta City Center, and two dinner restaurants opened on Main and Academy streets. Several of the new places run on morning and midday hours, and one sells food to take home. They arrived just ahead of downtown's busiest stretch of the fall.

Five Saturdays Left on the Town Green

As of Oct. 4, the market has five Saturdays left, because there is no market on Oct. 10. Wire & Wood takes over downtown that weekend. These are the remaining dates:

  1. Saturday, Oct. 17
  2. Saturday, Oct. 24
  3. Saturday, Oct. 31
  4. Saturday, Nov. 7
  5. Saturday, Nov. 14, the final market of the season

The Nov. 14 market shares its date with the 5th Annual Fall Cocktail Crawl, which runs from noon to 5 p.m. in downtown restaurants. Bar Crawl USA organizes it. The market closes at 12:30 p.m., so the last Saturday of the season goes straight from produce stands to an afternoon crawl.

What Opened Within a Few Blocks in August

The new places sit close together, and each covers a different part of the day.

Place Location What it is Status
OneDay in Paris 35 Milton Ave., Suite A, inside The Hamilton Alpharetta Bakery, café, full-service restaurant, wine program and cocktail bar Reported open in mid-August
Grove and Barrel Provisions Alpharetta City Center Southern European specialty market Opened in mid-August
Tre Fratelli 3 S. Main St., at Main and Academy Neighborhood Italian restaurant Reported open in early August
Amasa Mexican Kitchen 15 Academy St., Space 1E, Alpharetta City Center Coastal Mexican restaurant Soft opening began Aug. 27

Grove and Barrel announced a Friday, Aug. 14 opening, and FOX 5 Atlanta's August dining roundup later listed it as open. Amasa's soft opening began on Aug. 27, with a grand opening scheduled for Sept. 18, and Rough Draft Atlanta's Sept. 3 roundup listed it as open.

Two of the four are built around daytime hours. The other two are dinner restaurants. Together they change how downtown works on a Saturday morning once the market is gone.

OneDay in Paris Covers the Morning Hours

OneDay in Paris changes with the time of day. It serves coffee and pastries in the morning and lunch through midday, then shifts to dinner, wine and cocktails in the evening. Three French partners founded it after living in Paris, Bordeaux, Los Angeles and New York and then settling in Alpharetta. North Atlanta Star describes the bakery as central to the operation, not an add-on.

That matters after Nov. 14. The market brings people downtown between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and a bakery café on Milton Avenue is open in that same window without depending on the season. The Hamilton also hosts its own Christmas tree lighting on Nov. 20 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with the tree lit at 6:30 p.m. That is six days after the last market and one night before the city's tree lighting on the Town Green.

Grove and Barrel Sells Food to Take Home

Grove and Barrel Provisions is neither a restaurant nor a conventional grocery store. It carries European olive oils, infused vinegars, rice, pasta, sauces, canned and brined foods, coffee and selected wines. It also sells cheese boards, kitchen utensils and gourmet gift baskets for hosting. The founder is Josep Juncosa, a Barcelona native whose hospitality career includes Ritz-Carlton, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotels and Loews Hotels.

"Sharing the table with my friends and family was a cherished experience. I learned how powerful simple but quality ingredients could truly be." — Josep Juncosa, in announcing the opening

The farmers market is the downtown habit of buying food to cook at home. Grove and Barrel sells pantry goods instead of produce, but it serves the same kind of trip, and it is at City Center, a short walk from the Town Green. With Thanksgiving and holiday hosting ahead, a shop that stocks olive oil, wine and gift baskets has a clear role once the produce stands are gone.

The Busy October Weeks Test the New Dinner Spots

The two dinner restaurants are getting their first fall during downtown's most crowded weeks. Tre Fratelli took over a well-known space at the corner of Main and Academy. It was most recently Academy Bar and was previously associated with Butcher & Brew and South Main Kitchen. Chef David Soon and partner Marcus Bifaro, who is known in Alpharetta from his years with South Main Kitchen, run it. They describe it as a neighborhood Italian restaurant, not a special-occasion dining room. The menu includes chicken Parmesan, penne vodka, short-rib ragù and ricotta dumplings. Amasa Mexican Kitchen, which serves coastal Mexican food, is around the corner on Academy Street.

The first test is Wire & Wood, the Alpharetta Songwriters Festival. It is free and runs Friday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 11 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 10, from noon to 11 p.m. The lineup includes more than 30 performances on six or more stages, a new Music Market with art and handcrafted goods, and headliners Corey Smith and Sister Hazel. Alpharetta Restaurant Week overlaps the festival's second day. Appen Media lists it as Oct. 10 to 17, while the Awesome Alpharetta listing starts it on Oct. 11. More than 45 restaurants are taking part. Multicourse dinner menus cost $25 to $60, many places offer lunch menus from $20 to $35 and up, and beverages, tax and gratuity are extra. Our sources don't say whether any of the August openings are participating, so check the official list before you plan around a particular table.

The daytime calendar stays busy through late October:

  • Oct. 7 to Nov. 1: The 21st Scarecrow Harvest puts more than 100 scarecrows on downtown streets, with a scavenger hunt and a visitor vote.
  • Oct. 11: The 6th annual FitLife Expo runs from noon to 5 p.m. at Alpharetta City Center, 2001 Commerce St.
  • Oct. 17: Boo Bash takes place at The Grove behind the Alpharetta Community Center, 175 Roswell St., away from the downtown core. The event listing says 3 to 7 p.m. and Appen Media says 4 to 8 p.m., so confirm the time with the city. Appen reports the scarecrow winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 20 to 24: Paint The Town brings plein air painters from around the country to paint outdoors downtown each day. The free event is linked to Arts Alpharetta.
  • Oct. 22: The season's last Alpharetta Food Truck Alley sets up at 37 Old Roswell St. from 5 to 9 p.m. with live music.

After Nov. 14, Downtown Events Move Indoors and Into the Evening

When the Town Green market ends, downtown's December events shift toward evenings and indoor spaces. The Arts Alpharetta Artist Holiday Market runs Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Alpharetta Arts Center, 238 Canton St. The city's Season of Celebration Tree Lighting follows that evening from 5 to 8 p.m. on the Town Green in front of City Hall, with live holiday music, snow effects and Santa. On Dec. 5, the Alpharetta Business Association, which also runs the farmers market, holds its Alpharetta Christmas Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Innovation Academy, 125 Milton Ave. It coincides with the city's Hop and Shop. The same morning, the Alpharetta Welcome Center at 178 S. Main St. offers free photos with Santa from 10 a.m. to noon.

Lights On The Loop starts on Dec. 4 with a 5 p.m. kickoff behind 2500 Northwinds Parkway, away from the Town Green. The lights then run nightly from 5:30 to 11 p.m. starting Dec. 7 and continuing through Jan. 4, 2027.

Two more bakery updates are outside the downtown core or still unconfirmed. Paris Baguette opened Sept. 16 at 4119 Lake St., Suite 105, in Lakeview. Giulia Italian Bakery announced plans to open at 2001 Commerce St. at Alpharetta City Center "this summer." We found no confirmation that it opened, and a city listing published Sept. 16 still showed the summer target.

From Nov. 21 through December, a Saturday morning downtown runs on the storefronts that opened in August instead of the Town Green market.

At Stevens Residential, we track how new openings like these change the daily routine around downtown Alpharetta, block by block. If you're weighing what this new downtown activity means for a home nearby, schedule a free market consultation and we'll walk through it with you.
